Barbecues, yachting, picnics or poolside: Whatever’s on the radar for this Memorial Day weekend, the right wardrobe is essential. This weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer, and what better way to start it — and photograph it — than with some of the hottest pieces available in store.
Fun in the sun
Whether your plans include relaxing poolside or on the boat, the perfect swimsuit and coverup is a must have. Cynthia Rowley has a variety of options including its new design: the underwire bralette one-piece. Two prints are available in-store, but the $165 Metallic Sandi has a unique look with its mix of colors and abstract pattern. For a dress that could double as a coverup, the $325 white Postcard Eyelet design is a head turner. It’s a bit oversized, but the square-shaped cut-outs will be great for air drying a swimsuit while offering a peak of what’s underneath. Pair with a large beach bag and for a cinched waist, add a belt.
For a laid-back, posh look, head to LaunchPad where the Bask blazer is sold. This is a $325 Terry cloth blazer, which can double as towel after a dip in the pool or a cover-up for lunch. The blazer comes for both men and women and in a variety of colors.
Day to evening
After soaking up the sun, head to lunch or cocktails with a dress that can take you to both. At Intermix, Jonathan Simkhai’s $845 crochet lace dress sports a blue hue that can be paired with a hint of white in the form of accessories. The chest and torso feature different crochet designs that flow seamlessly into a handkerchief-cut asymmetric skirt. This look can be perfectly accessorized to flow from day to evening with the perfect earring and wedge sandals.
Sunglasses will be a must, so go for an ultra-chic cat eye from Le Specs made of plastic and acrylic for $108. For black acetate, Gucci offers a similar design at $420 with a touch of shimmer on the temples in the form of Swarovski embellishments.
Wedges will be the way to go Monday since they’ll be the perfect pair for poolside, boating, lunch or dinner. Aquazzura’s PVC and white-trimmed design was the most eye-catching and best to combine with that beach cover-up, jumpsuit or pastel dress for $625.
Cult Gaia has already put out social media’s “it” bag this year: the ark bag; but for a bag that is as equally unique and cheeky that’s not been all over the web yet, go for the $438 Lumen bag. Inspired by the Pearlbag, a spherical white bag with tassels, the Lumen comes in a tortoise finish and long fringe tassel that wraps around the wrist or can be hung off shoulder. This one is sure to be a new closet favorite.
